She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Schaffner and Dessie Schaffner; and her brother Nelson Schaffner. She is survived by: her husband George Barnwell of Piedmont; her children, Sandra Matthews, Connie Gowens (Joel) and Jayden Matthews; her grandchildren, Jeremy Matthews (Gladys), Ashlee Matthews, Joseph Matthews, Richard Barnwell, Adam Blumstein and Kayla Kirk (Michael); her sister-in-law Janet Schaffner of Pennsylvania; and her pet Penny. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
