He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnett Lee and Audrey May Stanaland (Ivie); and his sisters, Arnetta Seay, Marjorie Boyler and Sharon Stanaland.

He is survived by: his wife Vivian Stanaland; his sons, Arnett Lee Stanaland II (Kathryn), Sammie James Stanaland, Jr. (Kathy) and Travis Laine Stanaland, Sr. (Patricia); his grandchildren, Arnett Lee Stanaland III, Amber Nicole Stanaland, Kaithlyn Danielle Stanaland, Sammie James Stanaland III, Bailey Brooke Stanaland, William Levi Stanaland, Allen Stanaland of Utah and Tyler Harper (Brooklyn); his great grandchildren, Remington Colt Kotta Stanaland, Aiden Harper and Olivia Harper; and his siblings, David Stanaland and Marvalee Black. He is also survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
