He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Sue Stehno Shelnutt; his parents, Henry Shelnutt and Mary Shelnutt; and his siblings, Homer L. Shelnutt, Tony Shelnutt, Jackie Shelnutt, William Shelnutt, Mavis Davis and Roma Stanley.
He is survived by: his son Dwight Shelnutt (Kim); his siblings, Boyd Shelnutt and Myrtle Lou Cornfourth Barrington; his grandchildren, Riley Shelnutt (Anna), Megan Welborn (Andrew) and Morgan Busby (Stephen); and his great grandchildren, Maddie Drew Welborn, Teegan Welborn, Joseph Shelnutt and McKenna Busby.
