With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Willie Mae Avery (Phenix City, Alabama), who passed away on February 14, 2025 at the age of 93. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Willie Mae Avery to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her husband James Avery, Sr.; her siblings, JD Robinson, Freddie Edmonds, Clifford Robinson Sr., Mable Franklin, Lois Andrews, Blondie McDuffie and Mattie Jones; and her great-grandparent D'Angelo Avery.

She is survived by: her close friend Trudie Evans; her children, James Jr. (Bucky), Douglas (Doug) of Maryland and Karen Michelle Avery Alexander (Tony) of Phenix City; her grandchildren, Christopher (LaJanice), Sharon, Patrick, Monique, Tori and Tevin; her great grandchildren, Khristen, Naima, Nadira, Tailyn, Khi and Kam'ron; her great great grandchild Raziya; and her goddaughter Shandra Thornton. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews who affectionally called her "Auntie", and many relatives and friends.

Viewing was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Gaines Chapel AME Church (911 Dillingham St, Phenix City, AL 36867).
