He is survived by: his sister Eddie Kater Walker of Chicago, Illinois; his son Walter Bernard Smith; his stepdaughter Patricia Weldon; his grandsons, Davonte Mitchell and Jamie Tombs; and his friend Robert McDuffie. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
