He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Samuel, Sr. and Louvenia Samuel. He is survived by: his wife Joan Sims Samuel; his son Mark T. Samuel; his grandchildren, Myles Jamaal (Xavier University), Cydni Victoria and Kyndal Nicole; his sister Elizabeth Gary of Detroit, Michigan; his sisters-in-law, Robena G. Flakes and Annie Sims; his nieces and nephews, Johnie Flakes, III, Merle Flakes, Clarence Jackson, Eric Heard, Bernetha "Sweetie" Sims-Burt, Sencira Flakes-Williams and Wilda Heard; and also, Dale, Regina Powell, Keith, Yvette Arnold, Leon Harrison, Lambert Glen and Dannette Glen. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
