He was predeceased by: his wife Pamela Carter; his daughter Misty Carter; his father James Carter; and his brothers, Jeffrey Carter and Michael Carter.
He is survived by: his sons, James Carter and Timothy Carter; his mother Linda Carter; and his siblings, Sharon Brewster, Dana Isbell (Paul), Amy Hughes (Michael), Kelly Knight (Jeremy), Tim Carter (Flo), Kevin Carter and Phillip Carter. He is also survived by twenty-five nieces and nephews, twenty-six great-nieces and great-nephews, and four great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
