He was predeceased by: his parents, Buster Brown and Lugene Brown; and his brother Neal Brownand Jeffrey Brown. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Brown; his children, Stephen Brown and Sherri Blackerby; his grandchildren, Emma and Camdem Blackerby; and his siblings, Johnny, Jerry Brown, Wilma Johnson and Kathy Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations instead to be made to the Jimmie Hale Mission in Birmingham, AL where Jim was blessed to minister through the years.
