He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred McDanal and Mildred McDanal; his daughter Deanna McGill; his wife Jean McDanal; and his stepson Terry Holloway.

He is survived by: his significant other Mary Kelly; his children, James Andrew McDanal and Stacy; his stepdaughters, Tammy Otten (George) and Marilyn Eddings (Leo); and his brothers, Scotty McDanal (Terri) and Gary McDanal Jody. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
