He was predeceased by: his son Gerald E. Godfrey, Jr.; and his parents, William E. Godfrey and Lucille Buckelew Godfrey. He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline W. Godfrey; his daughter Melisonde S. Godfrey; his daughter-in-law Julie Turner Godfrey; and his grandchildren, Jordan Godfrey Stanley (David) and Jared Turner Godfrey. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Crumley Chapel United Methodist Church or Christ Church United Methodist Church.
