He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Linda Sue Spradlin, Vera Mae Dutton and Bob Sims; his father-in-law Don Trimm; his great-grandparent Dean Chance; and his close friend Sadie.

He is survived by: his wife Frances Joy Sims; his daughter JoAnna Faith Sims; his parents, Bobby Darroll Sims and Linda Maria Spradlin Sims; his sister Kristina Machea Godsey; his brother-in-law James Colonel Godsey; his niece Susan Lynn Godsey; his mother-in-law Jane Trimm; and his grandfather Leroy Spradlin.
