He was predeceased by: his parents, Hollis Cates and Pearl Cates; and his siblings, Travis Cates (Bill), Jeanette Garner and Mazell Lott.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Bush (Gene), Jerri Thompson, Ty Wayne Cates, Troy Cates and Todd Gregory (Marsha); his sister Linda Cates; and his grandchildren, Rebecca Furgerson (Darrick), Ronald Bush (Amanda), Sandra Barker (Aaron), Andrew Gregory, Jacob Gregory, Staci McDonald (Josh), Dennie Bush, Ryan Bush, Travis Bush and Alyssa Bush. He is also survived by 7 Great Grandchildren.
