He was predeceased by: his parents, Alford Gibson and Vennie Cheshire Gibson; his siblings, Harold Gibson, Edward "Hoot" Gibson, Joe Brack Gibson and Helen Gibson Howard; his grandson Ian Hubbard; and his nephew Donnie Gibson.
He is survived by: his former wife Barbara Rutherford; his children, Johnny Mack Gibson Jr. (Stacey) and Giovionne Gibson; his sister Shirley Howell (James); and his grandchildren, Kaitlynn Gibson, Faith Gray (Jamie) and Chelsea Lien (Luke). He is also survived by five great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
