It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Edward Byrd Sr. of Ozark, Alabama, born in Moody, Alabama, who passed away on January 30, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jimmie Lou Ellsworth Byrd and Otis Edwin Byrd; his brother James Otis Byrd; his parents-in-law, Wylie and Onnie Kirby; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Johnson, Armstead Hayes and Howard Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Nagel Byrd; his children, Stephanie Craft (Tony) of Montgomery, John Byrd, Jr. (Julia) of Dothan and Andrea Battles (Tracy) of Dothan; his grandchildren, Kirby Mitchell of Auburn, Davis Battles (Marlee) of Dothan, Hayes Battles (Loghan) of Echo, Ava Byrd of Dothan and Lillen Byrd of Dothan; and his great grandchildren, Olivia Mitchell of Auburn, Piper Battles of Echo, Kipton Battles of Echo and Scottie Battles of Echo.
