He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemuel Charles Thompson and Willie Ethel Adams Thompson; and his siblings, Annie Mae Andrews, Bernice Turner, Willie Charles Chancey, Dorothy Roberts and James Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Martha S. Thompson; his children, Lynn Sears (Russell), Leigh Byrne and Wayne Thompson (Lydia); his grandchildren, Laura Alexander (Johnny), Drew Sears, Taylor Sears (Nicole), Elise Sears, Megan Byrne, Emily Byrne and Hannah Blackall (Bryan); his great grandchildren, Mason Alexander, Oliver Sears, Sarah Blackall, Nathan Blackall and Liam Walden; and his sisters-in-law, Sharon McNeal and Myrl Woodham.
