He was predeceased by: his parents, Ocie Mitchell and Thelma Arnold Mitchell; his siblings, Gerald, Charles, Larry Mitchell and Mary Frances Mitchell Taylor; and his brothers-in-law, Alton Brundage and David Carmichael.

He is survived by: his wife Katy Mitchell; his daughters, Linda Mitchell Helvin (Jim) and Pam Mitchell Dawsey (Tom); and his sisters, Jeanette Brundage and Dorothy Carmichael. He is also survived by nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the P. E. E. R. S. INC.
