He was predeceased by: his parents, Avery Yates and Sarah Yates; and his siblings, Vivian Holmes, Elizabeth Yates and Rodney Yates.
He is survived by: his wife Edna Yates; his daughters, Fran Johnson (Tim) and Donna Timmons (Keith); his granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Timmons; his sisters, Carolyn McGuire and Gail Weaver; and his nieces and nephews, Debora Miller, Diane Baliff, Lisa Hatch, Patsy Deese, Donnie Maddox, Larry Maddox, Tommy Maddox, Anita Stovall, Chuck Owen, Stephanie Harris, Michael Holmes and Terry McGuire.
