It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bettye A. McElhaney of Oxford, Alabama, who passed away on September 10, 2021, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her significant other C. E. "Buddy" McElhaney; her parents, Walter Austin and Leila Austin; her siblings, Glen Austin, Billy Austin, Henry Austin, Anniebell Clay, Willie Nell Elliott, Bernice Jackson and Flora Ponder; and her granddaughter Bobbie Bain.
She is survived by: her children, Ricky Gilchrist (Conda), Daphne McElhaney (Ann) and Stacey Brown (Jeff); her grandchildren, Chad Gilchrist (Samantha), Ashley Stinson (Byron), Elijah, Joshua Brown and Shannon Lindsey; and her great grandchildren, Hadley, Hollyn Gilchrist and Kaylee Stinson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
