He was predeceased by: his parents, James Tillery and Annie Lee Brock Tillery; his wife Janice Herring Tillery; his daughter Kathy McQueen; his son-in-law Ian McQueen; and his siblings, Hazel Cantrell, Carolyn Ferguson and Charles Mckelvey.
He is survived by: his children, James Ely Tillery Jr., Linda Butler (Brad) and Pamela Hovis (David). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
