He was predeceased by: his parents, Essie Alberta Stanton Smith and Plez James Smith, Sr.; his siblings, Irnel Sherrer, Gladys Sherrer, Verlene Barr, Bernice Hancock and Plez James Smith, Jr.; and his sister-in-law Mary Coon.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Spann Smith; his sons, Shane Smith (Amanda) and Andy Smith (Gypsy); his siblings, Carolyn Morehead and James Harold Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Judy McIntosh, Sara Farris, Hinton, Linda Donaldson, Dick Spann and Lamar Spann. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
The family requests the omission of flowers, and memorials be made to Ino Baptist Church, 6157 AL Hwy 134, Kinston, AL 36453.
