He is survived by: his wife Mary Pruitt of Opelika, AL; his children, Melvin Richmond of Opelika, AL, Phyllis Pitts (Michael) of Opelika, AL, Cheryl Dorsey (Rodney) of Opelika, AL, Gary Richmond of Opelika, AL, Tonya Heard (Michael) of Opelika, AL and Lessie Hinz of Opelika, AL; his siblings, Charlie Pruitt (Regina) of Opelika, AL, Willie Nunn (Sylvia) of Seattle, WA, Annie Adkins of Opelika, AL, Shirley Frazier of Opelika, AL and Alice Edwards of Opelika, AL; his uncle John Pruitt (Carolyn) of Opelika, AL; his brother-in-law J. W. Ingram (Faye) of Crawford, AL; and also Tameka Lockhart. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The lying in state was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church (1784 Lee Road 29, Opelika, AL 36804). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
