He is survived by: his wife Tammie Patterson; his son Russell Patterson (Melody); his grandchildren, Joshua Patterson and Katherine Patterson; his sister-in-law Janice Patterson; his niece Stacy Worley (Christian); and his nephews, Les Patterson (Susan) and Lance Patterson (Susan).

Visitation was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home (1500 Frederick Rd, Opelika, AL 36801). A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
