He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ernst and Virginia Ernst; and his sister Patricia "Patti" Ernst. He is survived by: his close friend Beverly Ernst; and his children, Christopher Collins (Jennifer Joseph), Sarah Schaper (William Schaper) and Matthew Ernst.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM at the Frederick-Dean Funeral Home & Crematory (1801 Frederick Rd, Opelika, AL 36801). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
