He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Sheppard and Leatha Grace Mulkey Sheppard; his wife Virginia Nelson Sheppard; his stepson Jeffrey Owen; his son-in-law Steve Thrift; and his brothers, Amos Sheppard, Andy Sheppard and Buddy Sheppard.
He is survived by: his children, Vickie Thrift of Opelika, AL and Randy Sheppard (Debra) of Salem, AL; his grandchildren, Allen Garrett (Makayla) of Opelika, AL, Brittney Thrift (Shemuel Alexander) of Opelika, AL, Jessica McVey (Jesse) of Lineville, AL and Travis Owen of Wedowee; and his siblings, Clara Rush (David) of Cragford, AL, Leatha Mae Sheppard of Wedowee, AL and James Sheppard (Betty) of Roanoke, AL.. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
