With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Opal Elizabeth Higginbotham in Oneonta, Alabama, born in Birmingham, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 9, 2025 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by: her parents, Emory Holcomb and Melba Viola Kennedy Holcomb; her sons, James Emory, Richard and Roy Higginbotham; and her siblings, Imogene H. Dye, Mable Holcomb and George "Bud" Holcomb.
She is survived by: her children, Eddie, Dennis Higginbotham, Rebecca Harris (Perry) and Melba Jackson; and her sisters, Mildred McCulloch and Shirley Daley (Jerry). She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home (17885 AL-160, Cleveland, AL 35049). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel (17885 AL-160, Cleveland, AL 35049). A burial was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at the Bethlehem Cemetery (24559 AL-79, Trafford, AL 35172).
