She was predeceased by: her parents, Rufus Simpson and Elsie Murphy Simpson; her husband Alfred Brooks; and her sister Rebecca Simpson. She is survived by: her son Neal Brooks (Kristi); and her grandchildren, Ashton, Gracie and John-Wendall Brooks.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donation can be made to Lester Memorial United Methodist Church to either the Appalachian Service Program, the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Program or the Camp Sumatanga.
