He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Ellis and Bernice Blackwood Ellis; his sister Nannie Lee Ellis; and his father-in-law A. L. "Slue" Layfield. He is survived by: his wife Linda Ellis; his children, Jeffrey Ellis (Candy), Kristi Thomas and Kendra Compton (Dustin); his grandchildren, Kala Thomas Butts, Adam Thomas (Erica), Kourtney Ellis, Kassie Williams (Ethan), Austin Roddam, Morgan Roddam and Courtney Mendoza (Manny); his great grandchildren, Bethany, Joseph, Landon, Ellis Kate and Whitley Gray; his mother-in-law Dean Layfield; his daughter Rhonda Stricklin; and his grandson Matt Lee. He is also survived by three step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren.
