He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Mitchell and Edith Mitchell; his grandson Kyle Saye; and his brother T. C. Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Mary Violet Scruggs Mitchell; his children, Robbie Mitchell, Wendy O'Keefe (Bill), Heather Latta (Tony) and Jason Mitchell (Kristi); and his sisters, Carolyn Mitchell, Brenda Barkyoumb and Phyllis Gaunt. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
