He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Grady Owen and Eula White Owen; and his siblings, Manuel Grady Owen Jr, Cranston CJ Owen, Wallace Ray Owen and Wanda Waldrop.

He is survived by: his children, April Owen Brown (Jimmy), Pamela Owen Wilson (Derick), Sherry Owen Turner (Christopher) and Hershel Lee Owen Jr; and his siblings, Milton Owen, Fred Owen and Alice Pate. He is also survived by 23 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren.
