He was predeceased by: his wife Allene Gartman Fields; his parents, Jessie L. Fields and Opel Leonard; his daughter Tracie Fields Shelnut; his brother James R. Fields; and his grandchildren, Jessie L. Fields II, Miles Thomas Sanford and Amber N. Shelnut.
He is survived by: his son Charles H. Fields (Rhoda) of Millport, AL; and his siblings, Pat Leonard, Joyce Childress and Marlon Fields. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
