He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ross Dempsey and Nonnie Morrison Dempsey; his siblings, Ruby Watts, Ruth Freeman, Louise Smith, Catherine Caldwell (Cate), Luvenia Dempsey, Russell Dempsey, Curtis Dempsey and Wiley Dempsey (Sonny); and his siblings-in-law, Joe Watts, Otis Freeman, Frank Smith, Dewey Caldwell, Donny Thornton, Judy Dempsey and Liz Thornton.
He is survived by: his wife Patti; his children, Mark Dempsey, Kimberly Dempsey Thomas, Heather Prater (Scott) and Lee Taylor (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Heather Allen (Christian), Danielle Porter, Krystan Gillett, Logan Dempsey, Nathan Thomas (Nicole), Olivia Achille, Taylor Wood (Jason), Alyssa Cochran (Cody), Kara Prater (Xander) and Erin Prater; his great grandchildren, Kaylee McLean, Addisyn McLean, Brennan McLean, Kate Allen, Cannon Allen, Brynlee Porter, Hanna Starr, Rylen Gillett, Zoie Gillett, Haizley Stayner, Roman Thomas, Jackson Thomas, Janie Wood and Jase Wood; his brother Jerry Dempsey (Brenda); and his siblings-in-law, Joyce Dempsey, Danny Thornton (Wanda), Archie Thornton, Karen Burnham (Kenneth) and Genia Davis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home (50 Hamric Dr E, Oxford, AL 36203). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at the Forestlawn Memorial Gardens (730 Golden Springs Rd, Anniston, AL 36207).
