He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Calvin Yancey and Myrtel Virginia Yancey; his sons, Tommy Scott Yancey and David Yancey; and his siblings, Ray Yancey, Bobby Yancey, Dan Yancey, Paul Yancey and Ruth Tucker.

He is survived by: his son Steve Yancey; his sister Janice Wright (David); and his granddaughter Emily Faith Yancey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
