He was predeceased by: his daughter Jessica Mize; his parents, Clifton Mize and Nellie Mize; his parents-in-law, Robert and Geneva Holliday; and his brother-in-law Robert "Doc" Holliday.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine Holliday Mize; his daughter Angela Moore (Art); his sister-in-law Alice Faye Cook (Larry); and his close friends, Herschel Morgan, Paul Harbin and David Pearson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kilgroe Funeral Home (1750 Ashville Rd, Leeds, AL 35094). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at the Forest Crest Cemetery (5730 US-78, Birmingham, AL 35210).
