In Loving Memory of Dollie M. Browning, “SweetHeart”
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Dollie M. Browning of Odenville, Alabama, on November 9, 2024, at the age of 92. Known lovingly as “SweetHeart”—a cherished nickname first bestowed by her husband, Rev. Gordon Browning, during the Great War—Dollie’s life was defined by grace, resilience, and boundless love.
Dollie has now returned home to heaven, reunited with her beloved Gordon, her husband of 66 years (April 11, 1933 – January 12, 2019). Their remarkable love, forged in times of both joy and hardship, has come full circle, and together they share once more in eternal peace.
Dollie’s life is celebrated by her devoted family: her daughter, Karen Layton, and her son, Ronald Browning (Pam). She is remembered with enduring love by her grandchildren, Melissa McGriff (Patrick), Kara Browning (Jodie), and Anna Layton; her great-grandchildren, Zack McGriff, Isabelle DeFreese, Harrison McGriff, Harlow Thompson, Tallulah Thompson, Bodhi Thompson, and Norah Thompson; and her great-great-grandsons, RJ Hackworth, Samuel McGriff, and Michael Lee McGriff. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.
Her gentle presence and the kindness she embodied as “SweetHeart” enriched the lives of all who knew her. Dollie’s legacy of love, strength, and faith will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Family and friends are invited to share their condolences, send flowers, and leave a message of sympathy in her memory on her memorial page, honoring the remarkable life she lived.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Kilgroe Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Dollie will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery, beside her beloved husband.
As we say farewell to Dollie, her light continues to shine, a “SweetHeart” to us all, whose love and memory will forever guide and comfort those who had the privilege of knowing her.
