He was predeceased by: his parents, Giles Franklin and Octavia Franklin; his siblings, Evelyn Handley Stapp, Roy Franklin and Howard Franklin; and his great grandchild Infant Short.

He is survived by: his children, Sandy Gardner (Lance), Tonya Short and Steve Franklin (Christy). He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchildren.
