He was predeceased by: his wife Shelbie Jean Chappell Sandlin; his son Gregory Keith Sandlin; his parents, Herschel Leslie and Clarice Jackson Sandlin; and his brother Jim Sandlin (Judy).

He is survived by: his sons, Barry Sandlin (Sharon), Phillip Sandlin (Editha) and Jeff Sandlin (Dana Pettie); his brother Bill Sandlin (Sheila); and his granddaughters, Jessica Sandlin, Beth Johnson (Tad), Gabrielle Sandlin and Emily Sandlin.
