He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Burgess and Mary Doughty Burgess; his sister Maudine Madison; and his brothers-in-law, Roy Madison and Norwood Wilson.

He is survived by: his wife Beverly Burgess; his son Randy Burgess (Irene); his grandchildren, Chris Burgess (Paige), Laura Thomas (Michael) and Jon Burgess; and his niece Deloris McMullen (Tommy). He is also survived by three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
