He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dewey Carlson and Willie Lou Moye Carlson; his brother Dr. George Norman Carlson; and his wife Beverly Clark Carlson. He is survived by: his children, William Norman Carlson, Margaret Ellen Carlson and Laura Jean Carlson Dalton (Matthew); his granddaughters, AnnMarie Grace Carlson, Helen Faith Dalton and Rachel Hope Dalton; and his sisters, Mary Anna Carlson Cannon and Nancy Sue Carlson Kelly. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
