He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Tharp Carter of Newton; his children, Richard Carter (Lisa) of Culpepper, Virginia, Jennifer Tharpe (Kirby) of Ozark, Kathy Sillings (Damon) of Dothan and Sarah Carter of Newton; his grandchildren, Reanna Carter, Mason Tharpe, Hayden Sillings, Jordan Tharpe, Garrett Sillings, Sydney Carter, Whitt Tharpe and Madelyn Carter; and his siblings, Wilma Jean Shaw, Tina Dietrich, Maxine Rhodes, Nelson Carter, Debbie Suwa and Kay Jordan.
