He is survived by: his wife Denise; his children, Jocelyn Merkel (Jason) of Huntsville, AL and James Panter (Kim) of Murrieta, CA; his grandchildren, Sawyer Panter, Eleanor Merkel, June Panter, Olivia Panter, Everley Merkel, Edith Merkel and Ezra Merkel; his brother Chad Panter (Sally); and also Paul Panter.
