He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Lee Petty and Agatha Ruth Taylor; and his siblings, Felix Monroe, Thomas Claude, James Larry, Lynn Mitchell Petty, Lisa, Laurel and Windy Petty.
He is survived by: his wife Ester Petty; his sons, James Earl (Martha) of Houston, TX and Timothy Petty of Houston, TX; his grandsons, James Earl, Jr. and Timothy Martin; and his siblings, James Clarence Petty (Amy) of Huntsville, AL, Titus Petty of Huntsville, AL, Levi Petty of Athens, AL, Jessee Pearl of Huntsville, AL, Lucille Petty of Huntsville, AL, Theresa Culbertson of Houston, TX, Clara Mae Petty of Houston, TX and Kathye Massey of Fayetteville, TN. He is also survived by loving nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends.
