With profound sadness, we say goodbye to David Ray Carney of New Market, Alabama, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. David Ray left this world on February 16, 2025 at the age of 79, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie B. Carston and Andrew J. Carney; and his brothers, Tom Carney and Jim Carney. He is survived by: his wife Judith Carney; his children, Michael Carney (Emily) and Lydia Birk; his grandchildren, Tanner, Aubree, Charlee Carney, Clint Perry, Eli and Casey Birk; and his stepchildren, Lyn Peppers, Joseph, Tamara Peppers, Loren and Steve Anderson. He is also survived by Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Cousins and so many special friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Berryhill Funeral Home (2305 Memorial Pkwy NW, Huntsville, AL 35810). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations can be made to Tunnels to Towers and Huntsville Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1067, which helps to enrich the lives of the Veterans at "Tut" Fann Veterans home.
