He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Barton and Luvena Barton; his son Ricky Barthel Barton; his grandson Seth Dexter Ergle; and his sisters, Velma Chambless, Bernice Banks, Perlie Pickard, Clara Benson, Imogene Mann and JoAnn Barton.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley McNutt Barton; his children, Karen Barton, Shelia Norris, Ronald D. Clark (Julie), Sonya Harris (Jeff) and Tammy Cothran (Travis); and his siblings, Edward Barton and Faye B. Thrasher (Dalton). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
