We are sad to announce that on February 15, 2025, at the age of 82, Jess Willard Gurwell Jr. of Muscle Shoals, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Jess Willard farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Jess Willard is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his wife Ursula Gurwell; his siblings, Russell Gurwell, David Gurwell and Connie Jenkins; and his parents, Jess Willard Gurwell and Rosemary LeValley Gurwell.
He is survived by: his daughter Tanya Rosemary Barksdale (Mike); his granddaughter Amber Rose Bockus; and his nephew David James (Angela).
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Residence of Tanya Barksdale (202 Elliott Ave, Muscle Shoals, AL 35661).
