He was predeceased by: his parents, A. G. Smith and Norma Smith; his grandmothers, Jeanette Johnson and Amy Smith; and his siblings, Gary Smith and Debbie Duke.
He is survived by: his wife Lori Salter Smith of Maytown; his children, Tawny Threatt (Jonathan) of Birmingham, Michelle Burton of Fultondale and Randall Smith of Maytown; his grandchildren, Connor Hensley of Gardendale, Skyler Burton of Hueytown, Makynli Threatt of Birmingham, Quentin Threatt, Caden Hooper and Makel Threatt of Birmingham; his siblings, Terry Smith (Terri Lynn Weaver) of Birmingham and Renae Fleming of Birmingham; and his son Brian Burton of Hueytown.
