He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Nell and William H. Whitaker, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ragsdale Whitaker; his children, Karen Leigh Whitaker and William Darrah Whitaker; his daughter-in-law Sibel Zekiye Esme; and his grandchildren, Cassandra Carolina Whitaker and William Troy Whitaker.

Memorials in honor of Mr. Whitaker may be made to Canterbury Methodist Church, the Auburn University School of Engineering or to a favorite charity.
