He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Clarke Compton and Merrill Eugene Compton; and his sister Evelyn Compton Cobden. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Thomas Davidson Compton; his sons, David Merrill Compton (Kimberly) and Edward Thomas Compton (Doris); his grandchildren, Alexander Davidson Compton, Eric Merrill Compton, Stephanie Bragg and Jamie Bragg; and his siblings-in-law, James Wesley Davidson (Deborah) and Ann Louise Davidson Hudspeth (Robert). He is also survived by 6 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, and 8 great great nieces and nephews.
