He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Whittlesey Murray and Virginia Walker Murray. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Allison Comer (Allison); his daughters, Allison Manley (Duncan), Virginia Phillips (Will) and Elizabeth Marquez (Web); his grandchildren, Murray Manley Hoffman (Deets), Duncan, Libba Manley, Henry, Walker Phillips and Thornhill Marquez; his sisters, Virginia Creveling and Shirley Campbell; and his pet Whitt. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to St. Mary's-on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church, the American Heart Association, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens or a favorite charity.
