He was predeceased by: his wife Bertha Orso; his children, Johnny, Bobby, Felton, Norma Jean, Peggy and Sandra; and his grandchildren, Darlene and Chad.
He is survived by: his children, Bonnie Byrd (Leamon), Priscilla Rivers (Eric), Lois Dudley, Nora Byrd, Russell Byrd (Tracy) and Everett Rivers (Betty); his grandchildren, Richard Jr., Willie Mae, Randy, Sonya, Jamie, Raven, Robert, Joe, Carla, Kelly, Kevin, Khris, Amber Sue, Eric Ryan, Marcus, Troy, Wallace, Lil Russell, Lawanda, Tera, Bubba, Shane and Bryan; his nephew Van Rivers; his niece Shirley Rodgers (Dennis); and his close friends, Rodeaner Lofton and Ginger Snow. He is also survived by twenty-nine great grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; numerous godchildren.
