He is survived by: his wife Brenda Landers Thompson; his children, Ricky Thompson (Tracie) and Nancy Wilkins (Teddy); his grandchildren, Carmon Wilkins (Kaylee), Nathan Wilkins (Erica), Madison Thompson, Kaleb Wilkins and Logan Thompson; his great grandchildren, Kendall Hayes-Wilkins, Kaiden Wilkins and Emersyn Wilkins; and his siblings, Rachel Kerley (Marvin) and Lowell Thompson (Glenda). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
